Össur Skarphéðinsson, Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, will be giving an opening speech at the upcoming international geothermal energy conference, Iceland Geothermal Conference 2013 (IGC 2013). This year’s IGC event will be held at the Harpa Conference Centre in Reykjavik, Iceland, between 5th and 8th March 2013. IGC 2013 is a place for utilities, investors, vendors, regulators, and government bodies to take an in-depth look at the major steps in geothermal projects.

Dr. Jefferson Tester, the Professor of Sustainable Energy Systems at Cornell University, has been appointed as a keynote speaker for the Iceland Geothermal Conference, IGC 2013. Dr. Tester is the Professor of Sustainable Energy Systems in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell University. He also serves as Director of the Cornell Energy Institute and Associate Director for Energy in the Atkinson Center for a Sustainable Future.

It has been announced that Mrs. Sri Mulyani Indrawati, the Managing Director of the World Bank, will be giving a keynote speech at the first Iceland Geothermal Conference, IGC 2013, taking place at the Harpa Conference Centre in Reykjavík, March 5-8. Sri Mulyani Indrawati joined the World Bank in June 2010, where she is responsible for the Bank’s operations in Africa, East Asia & the Pacific, Europe & Central Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean, the Middle East & North Africa and South Asia.

Horne, has been announced to speak at the Iceland Geothermal energy conference, IGC 2013, taking place at the Harpa Conference Centre in Reykjavík between 5th – 8th March 2013. As the Iceland Geothermal Conference (IGC) gears up for the 2013 edition of its biannual geothermal energy conference, organiser Rósbjörg Jónsdóttir recaps the significant developments of the event’s planning throughout 2012. September saw the announcement of the President of Iceland, Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, was named as the patron of the conference, as well as the conference’s participation at the GRC’s 36th Annual Meeting, held in Reno, Nevada, U.S.

Dr Mike Allen, executive director of the Geothermal New Zealand initiative, is among those who will be speaking at the Iceland Geothermal energy conference, IGC 2013, an international event set to take place at the Harpa Conference Centre in Reykjavík between 5th – 8th March next  year. Mike has spent over 25 years with GENZL involved in the geothermal industry undertaking project developments in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Mediterranean.

Rósbjörg Jónsdóttir, organiser for the Iceland Geothermal Conference, will be in attendance at GRC’s 36th Annual Meeting, held between 30th September until 3rd October, in order to help promote and raise awareness for the energy conference. As part of the Annual Meeting, Jónsdóttir and her team will be helping to gather sponsors and key-persons within the energy industry in order to inform them on the energy possibilities which Iceland holds, as well as the research, exploration, and development opportunities.
